“As a kid growing up, my parents struggled at times to put food on the table, so it makes me proud to now be a part of an organization that helps so many Mainers in need. I find it personally rewarding to come to work each day, knowing that what I do really matters to the families in my community,” stated Hanna.
Renee Doolittle, Human Resources Generalist, is the primary contact for general HR-related service and support. She prepares and processes payroll, recruits and hires talent, maintain employee records, administers benefit programs, provides benefit education, and ensures compliance with state and federal employment laws.
As a safety committee member, Doolittle liaises with MEMIC’s injury case management team, injured workers, and supervisors to support employee health and well-being.
Before Good Shepherd Food Bank, Doolittle worked in HR at a flooring company and also held an HR position at the Scarborough Walmart.
“When I learned more about what Good Shepherd Food Bank does and the HR position, it was evident I would be working with like-minded individuals. There is a much deeper problem than food insecurity itself and I am passionate about learning and educating others on the bigger picture and being part of the solution,” stated Doolittle.
Prior to the Food Bank, she studied Psychology at the University of Maine Farmington, Social Work at the University of Southern Maine and is currently working toward an HR Certificate at the University of Southern Maine.
Cassidy Gosselin, donor engagement specialist, joined Good Shepherd Food Bank in June 2021. She works as the liaison for community fundraisers by providing tools and support for friends of the food bank looking to give back. She is the go-to for any inquires supporting the Food Bank, whether through a virtual food drive or a fundraising event.
Gosselin’s first step into the non-profit world was always having a passion for fundraising during college when she worked as a philanthropic marketing specialist, fundraising for the University of Dayton.
She moved to Portland, Maine, in 2015 and started working for Maine Medical Center in hospital billing and then moved to the philanthropic position as gift processor. Gosselin received a B.S. in marketing and a minor in economics from the University of Dayton.
“Food has made a huge impact in my life,” says Gosselin, “Being able to drive toward a mission where we work passionately to improve access to food and fight to end hunger for our neighbors ignited something in me. I want others to have the positive experience with food as I have come to know.”
As Major Gifts Officer, Carol Miller works to understand donor interests and strategies to meet their community and philanthropic goals. Before joining Good Shepherd Food Bank in May 2021, Miller served as Director of Strategic Partnerships at IAALS, the Institute for the Advancement of the American Legal System at the University of Denver.
Claiming Colorado as her adopted home in 1993, she held roles at Colorado Public Radio, served as donor advisor at the Alzheimer’s Association, and led the $30M Fast Forward Campaign at the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. In these positions, she built and implemented communications plans and managed robust pipelines of potential and current donors while expanding interest and engagement.
She earned her B.A. in Anthropology with a concentration in Philosophy from the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, VA. “It’s hard to work, focus, play, sleep, walk, study, or engage with others when you’re hungry. Basic human needs – they’re so basic and yet, in this country more than 35 million people go to sleep hungry,” says Miller, “We can do better. As a fundraising professional, this is my life’s work – to encourage others to chip in, rise to the challenge, alleviate hunger in a dignified and purposeful way, and make the world a better place. We do better, together.”

I have grown to understand the impact living out this statement can have not only in my own life, but also in the lives of those around me. I enjoy working at Good Shepherd Food Bank, in part, because the company as a whole is looking out for others in communities across our state. I enjoy feeling like the work that I am doing is not solely defined by a company centric, profit driven mentality, but is more focused on the welfare of the community as a whole.”
