TD Banknorth Helps Fight Hunger in Maine
Good-Shepherd Food-Bank received on Dec. 20 a major corporate donation from TD Banknorth, through the TD Charitable Foundation, that provide hundreds of thousands of meals for needy families and individuals throughout Maine.
TD Banknorth's timely donation of $40,000 will help the Food-Bank meet an anticipated 25-50 percent increase in demand due to the economic downturn, high unemployment and the recent storm power loss that devastated the supplies of many local food pantries. TD Banknorth's donation is the largest the Food-Bank received during the holiday season.
The announcement was attended by representatives from the Good Shepherd Food-Bank, TD Banknorth, Auburn Mayor John Jenkins, Auburn Councilman Ray Berube and Auburn City Manager Glen Aho, as well as some “Holiday Helper Elves” from TD Banknorth’s Bates Mill and Great Falls locations.
The donation to the Good Shepherd Food-Bank is part of a $300,000 donation program of the TD Charitable Foundation, the charitable giving arm of TD Banknorth, to assist food banks and pantries across New England and upstate New York during a time of urgent need.
