RiceSelect™ Donates Texmati® Rice to Maine Food Bank
In Honor of Author Stephen King
ALVIN, TX (April 1, 2010) – RiceSelect™, the makers of well-known Texmati® Rice, is pleased to announce that they have made a donation of 1,000 pounds, almost 500 jars, of Texmati® Brown Rice to Good Shepherd Food-Bank in Auburn, ME. The troubled US economy is having a widespread negative effect on local food bank donations, and RiceSelect™ found a way to help out. “We know so many families are struggling to put food on their tables,” said Mark Denman, vice president of sales, “and this is one small way of helping.”
RiceSelect™ chose Maine for this donation in honor of native son and author, Stephen King. “We were so thrilled to see our Texmati® Rice mentioned in King’s recent novel “Under the Dome”,” says Deborah Locke, product manager, “we are delighted that he may be a fan of our products.” This specific food bank was chosen with the help and cooperation of the Hannaford Brothers Supermarket chain which makes RiceSelect products available in the area and also delivered the Texmati® Rice for RiceSelect™. Hannaford makes regular donations to Good Shepherd Food-Bank, and sends four to five truckloads of food to the Food-Bank each week.
