Mainely Tubs of Payne Rd, Scarborough, together with hundreds of customers, raised $4,968 to support the work of Good Shepherd Food-Bank (GSFB) recently. Mainely Tubs offered promotional discounts and matched customer's donations to the food bank with dollars off their purchases on hot tubs, spas, and water treatment products. The funds raised will be used to provide food to community agencies that feed hungry neighbors in need. Since Good Shepherd Food-Bank is able to turn every donated dollar into more than $12.50 in food, these funds will equate to more than $62,100 in retail value of food.

Jim Van Fleet, owner and president of Mainely Tubs said; " We are proud to partner with GSFB. We are committed to investing in our community and know that our support will provide significant help to community members."

Good Shepherd Food-Bank, located in Auburn, ME, provides food to more than 100 agencies in the Cumberland County alone, and over 540 statewide.

Rick Small, GSFB Executive Director, said "This is likely the largest single fundraiser done from one location in such a short period of time. Raising nearly $5,000 within a week far exceeded our expectations. We are so appreciative of everyone's generosity on behalf of hungry people in Maine. This donation will enable us to provide over 310,000 pounds of food."

Good Shepherd Food-Bank is one of Maine's largest social service organizations, feeding over 70,000 per month through it's partner agencies. Agencies served include homeless shelters, soup kitchens, food pantries, abuse and recovery centers, programs serving children and the elderly. Last year, the food bank distributed nearly 9 million pounds of food throughout the state.

Funds will also be applied to sponsor deliveries of food with Good Shepherd's Food Mobile, a reconditioned beverage truck that serves as a mobile pantry. "This truck allows us to reach into underserved areas and also to assist pantries that are struggling with increased needs and limited facilities," said Small.
