Dorothy Egg Farm Makes Easter Donation... More than 100,000 eggs to be distributed throughout Maine

This morning Dorothy Egg Farms delivered more than 100,000 eggs to Good Shepherd Food-Bank that will be distributed to hunger relief organizations throughout the state. The donation was made as part of the nationwide drive by United Egg Producers.

“We are proud to be able to continue our support of Good-Shepherd Food-Bank especially at a time when so many of our neighbors are in need of nutritious food,” said Julie Lough, office manager for Dorothy Egg Farms.

“Large donations of high quality protein are a blessing,” remarked Rick Small, executive director of the Food-Bank. “Protein is integral to a healthy diet but it is often one of the key items that are missing from the diet of those who suffer from food insecurity. This donation will go a long way in helping to provide well-balanced, nutritious meals for those who are suffering from hunger in our state.”

Dorothy Egg Farms has been a loyal donor of the Food-Bank for many years. In addition to this large donation, Dorothy Egg Farms gives sixty dozen eggs to the Food-Bank each week.
Good Shepherd Food-Bank provides meals to more than 36,000 individuals each week in Maine through a network of more than 600 partner agencies. Partner agencies include food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, after school programs, day care centers, senior centers, and youth programs.
