A
Gift from Eastern Maine Medical Center Federal
Credit Union
EMMC FCU recently made a generous
gift of more than $3,600 to help GSFB provide food to
residents in the Bangor community. Funds were
raised through various credit union events in support of
the Maine's Credit Unions' Campaign for Ending
Hunger.
On Tuesday, April 2nd, local agencies
were invited to the Brewer facility to receive food that
was acquired with this donation.
Many agencies,
including Seeds For Hope Pantry, Living Word Food
Cupboard, and dozens more were thankful to fill vans and
trucks with loads of products such as ham, meat, and
other frozen food, canned vegetables, hearty soups, nice
stuffed shells and much more. "Our clients will benefit
directly from this generosity," said Pastor Tom
Bruce from the Living Word Food Pantry. "It's been a tough winter for
so many. This food is badly needed and is appreciated
tremendously."
TD Banknorth's Audit and Reconciliation Control
Unit volunteered
recently at our Auburn Warehouse.
The day was spent helping to
sort hundreds of boxes and thousands of food items. Vice
President, Linda Croteau said; "Our team had a great time at
GSFB! We all left pretty exhausted and with deeper
appreciation for the volunteers and staff members who
work so hard each day to feed Maine people. This was
definitely a win-win
event."

The skyrocketing costs
of fuel and food are dramatically impacting a growing number
of hard- working Mainers whose low-income jobs simply do
not provide enough money for food in addition to all their
other living expenses.
Your most generous gift at this
critical time of year will enable GSFB to
provide needed food for thousands who are
struggling to recover from this years long hard
winter.
NOW through
April
30, 2008!
All gifts received
will be
matched by the Betterment Fund, Bank of America Foundation,
the Ladd
Foundation, and the Feinstein
Foundation.
