A fund drive is most efficient and has the highest return and impact because:
- GSFB can turn a $1.00 donation into more than $12.50 in value of food.
People call this "The Miracle of Food-Banking" - Cash donations enable GSFB to safely provide high protein items, meats, fresh produce, dairy products, and other refrigerated and frozen products.
- Monetary donations are used to acquire food that is in low supply and high demand and helps to fill the gaps in donated product we receive.
- GSFB acquires food and essential supplies in bulk by the truckloads, leveraging our buying power for our agencies and ultimately saving them thousands upon thousands of dollars each year.
- A $10 donation provides 48 meals through our network of hunger-relief agencies while 10 non-perishable goods provides about 8 meals – an enormous difference!
- Financial donations made to GSFB are tax deductible. Cash donations should include all contact information normally found on a personal check. GSFB will send a personal thank you and acknowledgment for tax purposes.
Checks can be made payable to Good Shepherd Food-Bank or GSFB.
When you help us, you help many! Food and monetary donations raised will be quickly reinvested into many Food Bank programs. GSFB provides:
- More than 10 million pounds of food and grocery products to over 600 hunger relief agencies statewide. These include: soup kitchens, food pantries, neighborhood centers, foster and group homes, homeless shelters, and special services to children and the elderly.
- Many organizations have a “Matching Gift” program. Please consult with the appropriate person in your organization to see if such a program is available. This can help your efforts to have double impact!
With Food Banking...
Your Dollars Will Be Multiplied!
A gift of $10 Feeds 1 family of 2 for 8 days (about 65 pounds of food!)
A gift of $100 provides over 625 pounds of food to feed
2 families for 3 weeks or 1 individual for 6 months
