Volunteers are our Lifeblood
Without our volunteers, we could not accept truckloads of food which require huge amounts of manual labor. Volunteers contribute about $250,000 worth of labor annually, figured at minimum wage.
Our volunteers come from many different backgrounds and possess a wide range experience and skills, however... No special skills are required to make a valuable contribution. more >
A great number of volunteers are needed to do the day-to-day work.
Each day, approximately 100 volunteers help us do the following tasks:
- Presort truckloads of products coming into the Food Bank.
- Help to inspect each item according to standards of food safety.
- Sort foods into 130 different categories, to make products more usable by our agencies.
- Help to put labels on cans and other foods which must be labeled to fulfill labeling laws.
- Keep our warehouse clean and tidy.
It's all about people... caring, helping, working together!
