Betty Ellis Honored For Outstanding Service
Good Shepherd Food-Bank Board Members extend a special thanks to Elizabeth Ellis for her long term volunteer service to the food bank.
Our dear friend and Board member, “Betty” Ellis, is a quiet, abundantly caring and unassuming woman who unselfishly has given her soul, time and money to Good Shepherd Food-Bank for over twenty years.
JoAnn Pike, the Food-Bank’s visionary and founder, frequently relied upon her dear friend Betty, a steadfast confidant and frequent advisor. Whenever JoAnn needed her assistance, Betty was by her side. Together, they consistently worked to preserve and enhance the Food-Bank’s vital mission.
Betty has been a valued active member of the Board - graciously sharing her ideas advice and inspiration - lending a willing hand whenever and wherever she was needed. Betty has remained committed to the needs of the Food-Bank during the most difficult times, always hopeful and encouraging that enough food and resources would be available to meet the growing hunger needs. The staff loves to see her when she stops by to see how things are going. She would sit and pray with JoAnn regularly, especially during moments of the organization’s unusual challenges, and she always gives encouragement to everyone involved with the Food-Bank.
A uniquely devoted volunteer, Betty has always been steadfast in what she believed to be the right decisions that needed to be made in serving the mission of feeding Maine’s hungry. She has tirelessly served on the Board for two decades, and the Executive Committee for many of those years. As an outstanding citizen and faithful advocate for helping Maine’s hungry, she is an exceptional role model to all those who aspire to serve others.
